The new year came in with a vengeance. 2017 quickly came very close to breaking the record for the most snow in Idaho. The last time Idaho had this much snow was in the 80s! The kids had a lot of snow days. Their Christmas break even got extended because of the snow. I don't remember ever having as many snow days as they did when I was a kid.
One of our neighbors came over with a plow on the front of his 4-wheeler and plowed out our driveway. We had a lot of great help from neighbors this winter.
Bonnie and I had to walk around outside to see how deep the drifts in the garden were. Some of them went up to my knees!
There were also some wicked icicles hanging from the roof.
Bonnie wrote her name in the snow.
KyLee decided she wanted to go outside, too, but she didn't last very long. The sun was going down and the temperatures were dropping too low for her little body.
Jordyn thought she would see what the icicles tasted like.
Since it was too cold to go outside most of the time, we taught the kids how to play Settlers of Catan. They loved it and we play it a lot as a family.
KyLee is being silly on mommy and daddy's bed.
There was a beautiful frost on the trees one Sunday morning.
Mommy, Bonnie and KyLee were driving home from Pocatello after celebrating grandma N's birthday and we got stuck on the interstate, which had closed down due to freezing rain and a wrecked semi truck. Luckily, we were able to turn around and stay the night at grandma and grandpa M's. We were able to sleep well and had yummy pancakes in the morning. I am so thankful that the Lord kept us safe while we were on the roads and that grandpa M gave me the idea to turn around so I didn't have to sleep on the interstate all night.
