Mother's Day

Because J had to work today I got a very nice MD dinner yesterday. J taught himself how to make beef wellington and he made it just for me! His parents joined us for dinner and it was a wonderful evening. I felt so loved, and I even got molten lava cakes for dessert. I was in heaven!

The Garden

I took this panoramic picture of my garden yesterday. I plan to take one every so often to show how much our plants grow. We have planted strawberries, beets, onions, carrots, peas, cucumbers, zucchini, spaghetti squash, crook neck squash, pumpkins, corn, green beans, spicy peppers, tomatoes, bell peppers, watermelon, cantaloupe, potatoes (regular and red) and mammoth sunflowers.
Today is Mother's Day and in church they gave all the women tomato plants. Since we already have 18 tomato plants in our garden, I figured one more wouldn't hurt!

7 Months

KyLee is just over 7 months old and she has the cutest personality. She is sitting up like a pro and she loves to be outside, especially with her big sisters. She has started a phase where she doesn't want me to feed her, but since she can't really feed baby food to herself, she has to put up with me for a little bit longer. She doesn't have any teeth yet, but she is really good and gumming all kinds of food. She is still a mommy's girl and doesn't like to be held by any one else much, even daddy. I am still nursing her frequently and she prefers it to baby food. And people still stop me when I go shopping to tell me how cute she is. I love her so much and I feel so blessed to be a mother to 4 amazing children.

Baseball

Uriah has been wanting to play baseball for several years now, but we had always missed the sign up date. Well, we finally got him into coach pitch and he had his first practice on Thursday. It was fun watching him throw a ball and swing a bat. He was better than most of the kids on his team, he just needs some more practice catching a ball with his mitt. When he got a chance to bat he missed the first two pitches but on the third one he hit the ball so hard it went past all the kids on his team. It made me happy to see him having fun.

Coop Crusaders

Our sweet baby chicks got bigger and bigger and they finally got big enough to fly out of the box we kept them in. That meant that they were pooping all over the garage room we were keeping them in. I told J that we had to build a coop and it needed to be built quickly. We found some plans online that we liked, bought the wood and got to work. It took us 4 days from starting the frame to getting the fence around the coop. I'm so glad the chicks have their own home now and aren't stinking up the garage anymore!

We had lots of special helpers.
Even KyLee handed some screws to daddy.

It's The Pits

I told J that I really wanted a fire pit for our house, and I thought I had gotten lucky when my brother gave me an old metal one for free. When I brought it home, however, J just rolled his eyes and said he would make me a real fire pit. He finished it a few days ago and we have enjoyed it every night. Tonight we roasted hot dogs and made smores with giant marshmallows. I love sitting around a fire!
