Bonnie's 1st Un-Birthday

Not a lot has happened for us in the past few months, as evidenced by my blog neglect. The spring semester is the busiest time of the year at work, which means I am going-going-going from morning to night. Having 3 kids helps keep me busy as well. Jared began his clinical rotations and has been going back and forth to Twin Falls every week. Thankfully today is the last day he has to go to Twin Falls and now he will be going to Blackfoot every week, which is much closer.

Last week was a week full of celebration. My nephew turned 1 (2 days before Bonnie) and we celebrated for him on Sunday.
This is Jayson enjoying his first birthday cake.

My niece Liberty turned 1 the day after Bonnie and we celebrated for her on Saturday.
I couldn't find any pictures of her from her party, so I found one of her hiding.

I was really debating whether or not I wanted to do any sort of party for Bonnie. If I was going to throw a party, I wanted to make a cake, but I didn't want to put a lot of effort into anything. I decided that 1-year-olds don't remember the party, can't even open their presents, and since Bonnie didn't really need anything, I convinced myself I wasn't going to do anything for her 1st year celebration. Well, thank goodness I have family that care enough to make me do something. Everyone was so disappointed when I didn't plan anything, and I hate to disappoint people...

I had seen a cute cake idea floating around Facebook. It was a cake that looked like pigs taking a mud bath. I decided that it wouldn't be very hard to make, so I made my own version.
I'm no sculptor, but I think the piggies turned out okay.
I bought cupcakes and ice cream for everyone else, because I wanted Bonnie to have this mud bath all to herself, and she didn't disappoint.
As you can see, she tried to dig in before we could even light the candle and sing to her.

I wasn't expecting anyone to bring presents, but they were brought nonetheless.

And of course, she had to have a present from mommy and daddy, and we had no idea what to get her...
...so she got another toy. She likes it a lot.

Even though she won't have an actual birthday for another 3 years, it was great fun to celebrate for her, and we got some pretty good memories from it too.

But cake and ice cream 3 times in one week is enough to last me another year!
