Idaho Falls Temple Open House

I took Jordyn and Aubrey to the Idaho Falls temple open house on May 6th. I wanted to see what changes had been made since Jared and I used to go there when we lived in Pocatello, but it had been so long that I didn't even notice the changes! I loved walking through and seeing the baptismal font and all of the painting of Jesus and of beautiful landscapes. It was a very long line...we apparently went on the day that they had the most people attend, but when you're in the temple, the feeling of the spirit detracts from the feeling of waiting in line. When we got to the celestial room, Aubrey and Jordyn said it was their favorite and it made them want to cry. I told them the celestial room is also my favorite place to be.

I wish the whole family could have come. Jared and Uriah were on a father/son campout and Bonnie wanted to stay at grandma and grandpa's house. Next time there is a temple open house, I will be sure that we all go together as a family!

When Life Happens

I love this picture because Jordyn was lying on her bed holding my phone and taking pictures of KyLee while KyLee was playing around on her own bed. We were getting ready for bed and reading bedtime stories.

I went for a bike ride around the neighborhood the other day and I towed Bonnie and KyLee. They both love to go on rides with me.
When we got back, both the girls were asleep, so I parked the bike on the back porch and sat on the porch swing while they continued to sleep.

I had been getting tired of growing my hair out for almost 2 years and I decided I needed to go back to my beloved short hair. This was all the hair that got chopped off. It was enough to make a wig!

Yard Work

Jared decided he wanted to dig out the gravel driveway that runs through the back part of our property and bring in dirt so that we can plant fruit trees.

I didn't want to get rid of the gravel and plant more grass to mow, but I did want the trees, so I just decided to let him do it his way. We had one of our neighbors bring a loader to dig up most of the gravel, and another neighbor brought a small bobcat to get the rest. He even let Jared drive it, which he enjoyed a lot.

Natural Beauty

We were getting the kids on the bus last week and we saw this beautiful double rainbow. Even though it was still raining, I wanted to stand outside to get a picture.  I've seen a thousand rainbows, but I am always amazed and awed by the natural beauty of this earth.

Speaking of natural beauty, my sweet Jordyn has lost 3 teeth in 2 weeks. She loves to flash her new smile to everyone she sees.

Easter Weekend

Daddy was working on Easter weekend, so we found some fun things to do while he was gone. Daniel came to play with us for a few hours while his daddy was moving things into their new house and mommy was taking care of new baby brother. We drove to Twin Falls to play at the First Federal Bank park. We had lots of fun. After that, we met up with cousin Jordan and his new wife, Kylie, to have lunch together at Red Robin.

When we got home from Twin Falls, we went to our friend's, the Woods, house and colored eggs and had an egg hunt. The kids loved dipping the eggs in dye and putting stickers on them when they were dry.

Then we got to go outside and hunt for eggs. KyLee wasn't really sure what it was all about, but she liked getting the candy out of the eggs.

The night before Easter, I made "empty tomb" rolls. They are yummy rolls that you make by rolling dough around marshmallows, and after you cook them the roll is hollow, so it looks like an empty tomb. I didn't take a picture, but they were so good I will definitely make them again next year. We didn't have any money for Easter presents this year, but somehow the Easter Bunny didn't leave the kids empty handed. Grandma and grandpa M gave them pez candies and coloring books.

The Pinewood Derby

This year, Uriah got to participate in his very first pinewood derby. Daddy made helped him make his car; he wanted to make it look like an Enderman from Minecraft. When they got it weighed, it was half an ounce over the limit, so daddy had to drill some weight out of it before the race.

All the other boys were very impressed with how cool Uriah's car looked.

The Enderman car placed in 2nd and 3rd several times, and got 4th place once. We had such a blast watching all the cars race down the track.

When they did the awards, they said they were going to announce the award for best design, and before they even said his name, Uriah stood up and started walking up to get the award. He didn't know before hand that he was going to win it, but all the other cars were pretty unimpressive (most of them were plain wedges).
We are proud of our boys for their hard work on the derby this year. We can't wait to see what next year brings!
