Chalkin' It Up

A few weeks ago I decided that the kids weren't getting quite enough outside time, so I decided to take them outside and let them play with sidewalk chalk while mommy sat and watched. Uriah was pretty good at keeping clean, but Jordyn...well, let's just say she was having too much fun.
Jordyn decided that she just had to have all the chalk pieces in her hands. She could never hold them all at once and kept trying to pick up the stray ones and keep some in her arms. It was just too cute watching her struggle with dropping some and holding some.

Getting down and dirty!

She decided that there just wasn't enough color on her shirt...

All chalked up.

The kids' sidewalk artwork.

Jordyn decided she wanted to color the slide, but that didn't work so well.

Uriah just hanging out and watching Jordyn color the sidewalk.

My boy and his beautiful smile!

My little Jordyn looks so much like a Nichols in this picture...it's crazy!

What Happens in Vegas...

What an awful blogger I am. It has been a month since I went to Vegas and I haven't even posted my pictures or talked about it at all! So, that's what this blog is about. Time for me to document my time in Sin City!
This was what the inside of out hotel looked like, from our room on the 14th floor. This is a view of the Atrium level, where they have their shows and exhibits. Had I had the nerve to lean farther over, I would have been able to get a picture of the very first floor, where you check in, but I don't like heights very much...

This is the view from our hotel room. I have to admit I was severely disappointed with our hotel room. It was hot and stuffy and we had a little swamp cooler thing acting as our air conditioner, but it didn't work so well. If I ever visit again, I won't stay in the Luxor. At least, not in the pyramid part.

This was in the Bellagio gardens. They have a few sculptures made entirely out of plants. It was very cool in there and smelled beautiful. My friend and I also ate at the Bellagio cafe for lunch and it was delicious.

These are glass flowers on the ceiling of the Bellagio. I thought they were really pretty to look at.

Apparently, this is the world's largest chocolate fountain. The sucky thing is that you can't even stick your fingers in there or anything...ha ha ha. It's all covered by glass, but still fun to look at.

This is a neat design on the floor of the Phantom theater. I had to go scope out where it was so we weren't wandering lost the night of the show!

Gondola rides at the Venetian hotel. I really wanted to take a ride, but we never found the time to wait in line and then take the 15 minute ride. It sure was fun to watch though.

No, we aren't outside. This is inside the Venetian hotel, my absolute favorite hotel that I saw in Vegas. The ceiling really looked like we were outside, but I was sure it wasn't real because the Vegas sky didn't look that nice :)

We went to see the lions at MGM Grand, but they were all sleeping. Standing around watching a sleeping lion isn't exactly how I wanted to spend my time in Vegas, so I didn't stay there very long.

Me and my good friend Michelle. She drove me around Vegas and showed me all the stuff worth seeing. Thank goodness I had her with me!

Garth's guitar sitting on stage. I was so excited that the theater was small. I could actually see Garth and he wasn't just 2 inches tall. It was one of the best experiences I've ever had, and it was an amazing concert. My mom went with me and she really enjoyed it. We laughed and I got a little teary eyed from excitement. To me, it was worth every penny!

Me standing by a Garth sign. I was bummed that they didn't sell any memorabilia or anything, so I decided that this was the next best thing.

What our hotel looks like at night...

This is the largest virgin pena colada I've ever tried to drink...in fact, probably the biggest ANYTHING I've ever tried to drink...

The chandelier in the phantom theater. We actually got bumped up to better seats and they put us right under the chandelier. At the beginning it was in 4 pieces, and then as the Phantom of the Opera overture played, the 4 pieces came together and formed one giant chandelier above our heads. It was so cool!

The phantom stage. Everything looks run down and ready for auction. Seeing this play really made the whole Vegas trip worth it. It was a once in a lifetime experience. All the singers were amazing and I don't think I could ever guess how large that stage was. They were doing some really amazing things. I will never forget this experience.

The marquee outside the Phantom theater.

Me, Kacy and Deej outside the Venetian after seeing Phantom. I am so glad they came with us. They kept us busy. Mom and I would have stayed in the hotel all weekend if Kacy and Deej hadn't given us the extra push we needed to explore.

A pirate ship outside of Treasure Island. If you ever go to Vegas and someone tells you to go see The Sirens of TI, just don't do it. It's super cheesy, really long and really boring. I can, however, say I've seen it. I can scratch it off my list.

Anyway, that's all the important stuff! I had an amazing time in Vegas. It really was a "once in a lifetime" experience for me, and even though I don't plan on going back any time soon, I would definitely recommend to anyone that they take the time to see Phantom of the Opera, or Garth Brooks, or any other big show playing down there. I really think that's what's great about Vegas, the big shows. All the little stuff, I could care less about. Woo hoo!
PS- I loved the Bellagio fountains. Check out this video I recorded of the fountains here.
