Slow Down

There hasn't been a whole lot of stuff going on in the past two weeks. We've just been doing our own things and going about our days. Although, I did have one last canning adventure before I decided it was time to put the cooker away. My dad and I bought a case of pears at Ridley's. They were very hard and very green, and I wasn't convinced that they would be very good. But, after a week, they were some of the most delicious pears I'd ever tasted. While dad and I canned, I had a hard time not eating them! We have opened a few jars since the canning and they still taste super good. Jordyn LOVES eating them! I am drooling just thinking about them!

At the beginning of October, Jared's cousin threw a birthday party for her 3 year old daughter. It was Halloween themed, she called it a "Boothday Party" and it was a lot of fun. I had the kids dress up in their Halloween costumes. Jordyn is a black and white kitten. She has a little fuzzy hood with ears, but she doesn't like to wear it too much. She still looks cute no matter what!

Our neighbors had a yard sale (late in the season) to get rid of some stuff in their garage. They happened to have a Thomas and Friends unfolding couch for $3, and I knew I just had to get it because Uriah LOVES Thomas. So, I asked them to hold onto it for me until I got off of work. Uriah thinks it is the greatest.
Here is Jordyn sitting on Uriah's Thomas couch. She thinks it is comfy too.
Jordyn doesn't usually watch TV, but for some reason, if we put in "Bolt", she can't look away.

I went digging through one of the drawers on the kids' changing table and I found some clothes that I had gotten for Jordyn for her baby shower that were 12 months and up. I decided that, since she is almost 12 months, I would try this cute pink onesie on her. It fits perfectly, and she looks so cute! Thanks auntie Lana!

October really has gone by fast. I set up a date for my Halloween party at the beginning of the month, and now I'm just a little over a week away from it. I really don't have any plans as to what will be going on or what food I'm going to serve, but that's how my parties usually go; I don't even start thinking about things to buy for the party until the day before. I am excited for it. It seems like the only time of the year that I can get all of my friends, old and new, together to hang out. It really makes me happy.

I have been thinking for a while about losing weight and trying to find some workouts to do to help me with that. I thought about getting a membership to our college gym, but it is really far away from where we live and that would be a lot of traveling for me to do. We are, however, only about 1 1/2 miles away from Gold's Gym, so I decided to get a 7 day pass to see what it is like. I have gone to exercise every day this week, and I have gotten up at 5:15 in the morning for 3 of those days. Exercising really makes me feel good, and I know that I am doing something good for my body, so after my trial is up, I'm pretty sure that I will get a membership. I thought that getting up at 5:15 in the morning would be really hard, but it's actually quite easy. As long as I go to bed no later than 10, getting up that early has been a lot easier than I ever imagined, and being active that early has also helped me get ready quicker for work. I'm actually getting to work on time instead of dragging my feet in 5 minutes late. I really hope I can keep this up, because I love feeling like I am doing something good for my body.
Also, I have been doing well at saying prayers and reading scriptures. We have done those things almost every night since our last post, and I have Uriah say prayers at bed time and during meals. He is getting really good at knowing what to do and sometimes he even repeats what I say in the prayer. He is such a quick learner. Things are going well for us right now. I hope they continue that way!

  1. *like* :)

Speaking of prayers -- we have been doing that with Kystin too :) He has a Precious Moments doll that say's the "Now I lay me down to sleep ..." prayer and it says "Amen" at the end so I say it, then Justin says it, then Kystin says it. It's so cute!!!

Wish we lived close enough to go to your Halloween Party!!!

    Miss you guys!
