A Late Start

So I know that the new year started about a month and a half ago, but I think I've got some pretty good excuses for not blogging. Besides welcoming our new baby girl two days before Christmas, I welcomed a very unwelcome gallbladder attack on January 7th. I went to the ER and they did some tests and told me that I had a urinary tract infection (which was ridiculous) and they sent me home with pain medication and antibiotics. Well, that ended the breastfeeding for Jordyn because the antibiotics weren't safe to take while breastfeeding, and the pain in my stomach wasn't going away so it was hard to breastfeed anyway. 4 days later, still in pain and thinking I'd much rather be in labor again, I went back to the ER and they made the correct diagnosis (finally) and I had my gallbladder removed on January 11th. It was the first real surgery I'd ever had and I was nervous, but everything turned out okay. The surgery was supposed to take 1 1/2 hours and only include 4 incisions, but my gallbladder was so infected that the surgery took 3 hours and 6 incisions. The surgeon said it was 5 times the size it was supposed to be and that I should have been in a lot more pain than I was and that it was a good thing we got it out. He gave me two of the largest stones (although there were lots more) and he gave me a picture.Anywho, I started going back to work on February 1st, and it wouldn't have been so bad if Jordyn would sleep through the night. She would do okay sometimes, but most of the time she would wake up every 3-4 hours. I got used to it pretty quickly, and I started setting my alarm about half an hour earlier than normal to make sure I had time to feed her and get ready for work. It really has made me appreciate my weekends a lot more! She is actually doing fairly well now and sleeps about 4-5 hours at a time, if she gets a good dinner :) She has been fighting a cold the last few weeks that congested her really bad, and for a while she couldn't eat very much because she couldn't breathe through her nose. She is starting to get over that and that makes a very happy mommy! Uriah got a double ear infection and just finished his 10 day antibiotic and is back to his happy self. I don't know what I would do without him! Jared is working and taking Genetics and Chemistry, and those classes are giving his brain a good workout. He doesn't get very much sleep, but like me he is getting used to it.

Well, I've talked a lot about my baby girl, so I suppose I'd better post pictures of her :) Jordyn Rae was born on Dec. 23 at 10:37 am and weighed 7 lbs 14oz. It was a very fast labor/delivery. I was induced around 1 am and when that didn't get me anywhere my doctor broke my water at about 8:30 am. At 10 am I was dilated to a 5 and half an hour later baby Jordyn was here! The nurses weren't prepared and were rushing around to set things up for the baby to arrive and the doctor barely made it there in time to catch her. She just didn't want to wait anymore!

About a week ago I had some professional pictures done of my two babies. It was a lot of fun and Uriah was a big ham. Here are the preview pictures that I got before I got to see all of them. When I finally buy them I will post them on here to show them off.
For Valentine's weekend I planned a surprise trip for Jared and I to the Anniversary Inn in Logan. We staid in the Tipi room. Sounds corny, but it was so relaxing and quiet, we just shut ourselves up in the room and forgot about the outside world. The tub was absolutely FANTASTIC. I swear, one day when I'm rich and build my own house it's going to have a tub just like that one. Here is a link to the room we staid in: http://www.anniversaryinn.com/logan/room/29-the-tipi. It's a lot easier to post a link than post a lot of pictures. As far as gifts, Jared and I got ourselves new furniture with our tax return and I got Jared an ipod nano so he can listen to music at work. I absolutely love my new sectional. There is a huge difference between 20 year old furniture and furniture that's never been sat on :)
Well, I have a lot more pictures of Jordyn and Uriah to post, but for now I've gotta get back to work. Time for lunch!

Looking Back for the Future

I thought I would try going through the last year and recalling some memories, good and bad. I've seen other bloggers do this and I thought it would be fun. I probably won't remember all that I want to, but it will be fun to think through the last year.

January 09- I started my last semester in college. There is nothing like graduation on the horizon to give you really bad senioritis! Jared started just another semester, and has many more to go. He finally decided to start working towards a Biology degree. Uriah turned 7 months old, and at the end of the month we got family pictures taken.
February 09- I don't remember much about February. Uriah turned 8 months old. I'm sure we did something for Valentine's Day, but I don't remember what it was. How terrible my memory is! Oh, we found out what kind of nice tax break we could get by having a child to claim on our taxes! That was a really nice bonus, and we were able to make good use of our tax refund.

March 09- Uriah turned 9 months old. I decided that with our tax money I would book us a room at the Black Swan Inn so that we could have a nice weekend away from parenthood and from school. My mom watched Uriah and Jared and I staid in the log cabin suite. It was very very nice. I love having huge jetted tubs that we can both bathe in together. We ate at Red Lobster after we checked in.
Right before spring break I stopped taking my birth control. I thought it would take another 7 months to get pregnant, like it did with Uriah...well, we'll see how that worked out in a few months.

April 09- I know it was around here some time, but I think Jared and I bought a new surround system with our tax money. It has really been quite nice for us and it sure can make a loud racket in a small apartment like ours. Uriah turned 10 months old.

May 09- I finished my last semester of college and graduated with a Bachelor's degree in English. I have never felt more accomplished. It felt like a great weight was taken off my shoulders. I have always enjoyed school and going to classes, but there was something about receiving a degree that is very satisfying. I had a graduation party with some food and friends.
Shortly after graduation, I was hit by someone who ran a stop sign and my car was totaled. We got $1300 for it. I was very sad, because even though it was a big granny car, it ran well and kept me feeling safe. Jared and I had to share cars for a while, and it didn't take very long for me to get tired of that.
Shortly after my car accident, I found out I was pregnant. I was quite a few weeks late but I didn't want to get my hopes up because I always missed a few periods when I stopped taking birth control. It wasn't exactly the best news to get after we lost our car, but we knew everything would turn out okay.
Uriah turned 11 months and started walking. It wasn't very long before we were chasing him around the house.

June 09- I had my first doctor's appointment and found out that I would be due on Christmas Eve. Not exactly the happiest news in my life, but I knew there was nothing I could do about it. Because I was no longer a student my job at the financial aid office was coming to an end. After working there for 3 years I was going to have to join the real world and start looking for a job. Luckily, at the beginning of the year I had put my name on the state job register for state jobs, and one day I got an email to interview for a job at the College of Pharmacy. It was my first ever real job interview, and I was very nervous. I was the very first interview and two days after my interview they called me and offered me the position. I was so happy! I thought sure there would be someone more qualified than me for the job.
My twin brother got married to a beautiful, fun girl. It was a good day.
Uriah turned 1 year old on the 21st. We had a little birthday party and we were lucky enough to have lots of family there, even though it was also Father's Day. We made cream filled cupcakes and enjoyed a nice BBQ inside, because it was hailing and raining.
July 09- I started my first real job. I was very nervous, and my first week included an overnight trip to Boise, but thankfully the girl who had the job before me was there to help. She has been the nicest person when it comes to helping me with the job.
I decided that I was tired of sharing cars with Jared and I went out while he was at work to look for a new car. I found us a nice Honda Civic Hybrid 2005 and I drove it over to Jared so he could see it. We both fell in love with it and have been very happy about it ever since.

August 09- I turned 23. I know it's not that old, but when I think back on past years it makes me feel old. I had my 20 week ultrasound and found out that we were going to have a baby girl. I was sad at first because I really wanted another boy, and it took me quite a while to get over it, but I started watching other peoples' little girls and it got me more excited about it.
Jared started another semester of school.
I started showing, just a little bit.
We took Uriah to a pediatric eye specialist and found out that he would need to have surgery to correct his droopy eyelid. We planned a trip to Salt Lake for early next month.
We enjoyed Jared's financial aid for about two seconds.

September 09- We took Uriah to Salt Lake to have his eyelid lifted. It was hard for me to see him afterwards because he didn't know what was going on and he cried and cried and cried, and so did I, but in the end we all turned out okay . We staid at my aunts house for three days and that was very enjoyable.
On the 18th Jared's sister got married and we made another trip down to SLC. We left Uriah with grandma so that he could continue recovering from his surgery.

October 09- Another successful Halloween party! We were up til 3:30am and played games all night long. I love having my yearly party. Funny thing is, I didn't put up any Halloween decorations this year. I was disappointed with myself, but being 6 months pregnant, I convinced myself that I didn't need to put up a whole bunch of decorations this year.

November 09- We had Thanksgiving with Jared's parents because we knew we wouldn't be able to be there for Christmas with a new baby. I started counting down the days until my due date.

December 09- We welcomed a new baby into the family. Jordyn Rae was born on the 23rd and has been such a blessing to us. Uriah has been a good big brother and has transitioned better than we thought he would. I will post more about our new addition in a different post.

09 had its ups and downs but overall was a good year to us. Here's to starting out a new year!

Snow Days

Ever since Uriah could crawl, I have been waiting for a good snow day to come around when I could take him outside and let him play around. Well, Saturday night we finally got a good snow dumping, and I decided it was time to take him outside before baby sister comes. He had a good time but didn't like falling down into the snow. He wasn't used to wearing such bulky clothes and had to get used to wearing his boots, but after we had been out there for a while he decided it wasn't so hard to get around. Well, there are only 10 days left until my due date, and hopefully the baby will come in less than that. I have decided to be induced on the 23rd if the baby hasn't come before then. I will ask my doctor about it this week and see what he says. I am definitely ready to have this baby out of me, but more than willing to wait if it means I don't have to be induced!

Updates

It's been a while since I've blogged. There's not a whole lot to say right now, but I've got lots of pictures to update. Uriah is doing very well and he likes to make animal sounds now. He can tell you what the lion, snake, monkey, cow, and kitty say. For Halloween we decided that he would be a little lion since he could make the sound for it. It is getting close to D-Day. I am 34 weeks now, so only a little more than a month now. I am getting excited for my baby girl to come, especially since I am getting more and more uncomfortable. I just don't get a very good night's sleep anymore, but I do what I can. Uriah has started sleeping in a twin bed, which went a lot smoother than I thought it would, but he seems to be waking up in the night a lot more lately. I think the cold weather wakes him up. He moves around so much at night that when his blanket falls off of him he doesn't know how to pull it back on. I guess we'll have to start using the heater more than we do, or give him an extra layer under his jammies. Pretty soon we are going to start moving things around in our apartment to make room for the new baby and to give her her own room. She will be in our room for a few months but now that Uriah has a twin bed AND a crib in his room we decided we should move the crib into another room. Well, that's about all I can think of for now. More to come some other day.

Daddy found an old croc head in storage that his parents gave to him a while ago. He decided to leave it out for Uriah to play with (yuck). At first Uriah didn't like it, but once he got used to it being around he decided to carry it around with him. Hopefully he doesn't get too attached to it, cuz it might just disappear one day ;)
